75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Memorial Band Concert
December 4-9, 2016 | HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I
The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against this United States naval base located west of Honolulu on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack would mark the United States’ entry into World War II. Pearl Harbor is a lagoon harbor on the island of O‘ahu. The 75th anniversary of the attack will be remembered with a mass band performance featuring bands from both the U.S. and Japan showing that they can work together as musicians in a performance that seeks to inspire a world filled with love and peace.
The USS Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor will be the backdrop for the 75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Mass Band Performance. The USS Missouri Memorial is dedicated to preserving the ship’s legacy as the site of Japan’s unconditional surrender to the Allied Forces on September 2, 1945, ending World War II. It honors the commitment of all of the men and women past and present who served our great country. The Mass Band of American and Japanese musicians will present to the world, “A Gift of Music!”
